For people who have experienced difficult seasons, belonging can be the turning point—the moment life begins to steady again.
When someone has somewhere to land, life begins to steady. And from there, everything else becomes possible—belonging, connection, and hope.
Every day, Churches of Christ in Queensland walks alongside people as they move toward stability. And “home” is not just a physical place. It’s a sense of stability, belonging, and support—something people can build from.
It’s what allows people to reconnect, rebuild confidence, and take the next step forward. Your end of financial year gift helps create spaces where people don’t just get by, but can move forward with dignity.

At Churches of Christ, we understand “home” as more than a physical place. It’s a sense of stability, belonging, and support.
And it’s this foundation that allows people to rebuild confidence, reconnect with others, and begin to see what’s possible again.
This can look different for everyone: a child finding the support they need to feel safe and confident at school, an older person reconnecting with community, a family finding their footing again after a difficult season.
This is what Hope Needs a Home is about.
Help someone take the next step toward stability
Your gift helps to provide: Safe, stable housing. Practical support that builds independence. Connection that reduces isolation.
Every gift contributes to lasting, meaningful change.Ethan's story
Ethan* entered primary school carrying more than any child should. Living in out‑of‑home care and having experienced trauma, learning often felt overwhelming and confidence was hard to find. Reading, writing and maths brought frustration, and school was a place where he struggled to feel settled and secure.
Through a tutoring program delivered in partnership with the Churches of Christ Children Youth & Families team, Ethan was matched with a dedicated Learning Support Mentor. Week by week, they worked together one‑on‑one—focusing first on trust, then building confidence, and gradually strengthening learning skills.
Over time, things began to shift. Ethan became more willing to have a go, more comfortable speaking up, and more engaged with learning. By the end of the program, he was taking on challenges independently and showing pride in his progress—something his carers and teachers noticed too.
For children like Ethan, Hope Needs a Home means more than a safe place to live. It means stable, caring relationships and the support they need to believe in themselves and move forward with confidence.
