Next Step Plus

The Next Step Plus program is committed to working closely with a young person’s family, extended family and mentors. Partnering with the CREATE Foundation, Queensland Government and other referral services, this program is designed to engage, support and connect young people positively with their community.

For many young people their family, network of formal and informal support, and social and cultural connections that they develop for themselves, are equally as important in their transition to independence.

The Next Step Plus team work within a relational frame to support young people negotiate and re-negotiate their relationships and sustain these connections as they bridge into the transitional phase and future phases of leaving care.

With this support young people build practical life skills such as finding safe housing, financial or study assistance, managing money, and maintaining a sense of safety and continuity. Young people can also continue to access counselling services to remain connected to their family, kin, culture and community.
