The new Stage 1 building will contain 65 retirement living units on six floors, ranging from one to three bedrooms, and a clubhouse on two levels. The building has been designed to respect the privacy of adjoining residents as much as possible. Most units have either northern or eastern aspect. The building enjoys views to the surrounding Sir Bruce Small Park and the broader Gold Coast Region. It will include car parks for resident needs. The clubhouse for all Lady Small Haven Retirement Village residents includes a function room, hair salon and self-service café space.
Car parking and traffic will be managed throughout construction. Traffic controllers will be on site during working hours including school drop-off/pick-up times. They will be located close to the entry to Lady Small Haven, directing traffic and ensuring it flows smoothly.
The visitor carpark to the north of the residential aged care building (21 spaces) is no longer available. There is some alternative parking along Allchurch Avenue at the Sir Bruce Small Council carpark (2 hours free maximum) and Surfside Bus Service stops at Lady Small Haven driveway. The bus timetable is available on 131230 or visit www.translink.com.au

Gold Coast City Council has approved the project’s Traffic Management Plan which outlines the haulage route for heavy vehicles entering and exiting the site. Entry will be via Allchurch Avenue and the exit will be via the access road in Sir Bruce Small Park running south to north (exiting onto St Kevin’s Avenue).
Throughout construction, our aim is to ensure the safety of everyone using roads adjacent to Lady Small Haven during our project, especially schoolchildren at drop-off and pick-up times. We have listened and incorporated the feedback from nearby schools and neighbours regarding traffic management for heavy vehicles.
The Stage 1 redevelopment at Lady Small Haven is part of a proposed Master Plan that is being put together to guide the overall development of both Lady Small Haven and nearby Golden Age Retirement Village and Golden Age Aged Care Service site on Ridgeway Drive in Southport. More details will be available here about all aspects of the Master Plan once they are approved.
