Lights, camera, talent! Oak Towers takes the stage!

On 16 July, residents, staff and volunteers connect for an afternoon filled with entertainment, laughter and community spirit.

The event marked the return of the much-loved talent show after almost a decade in mothballs. From musical performances and poetry readings to hidden talents being discovered, the participants proudly showcased their skills while fellow residents, families and staff cheered them on. 

Jean Whitelock also captivated the audience with heartfelt readings of The Lake Isle of Innisfree and Where the Pelican Builds Her Nest, while Desmond Stowe entertained attendees with recitals of Jabberwocky, The Clock of Life, and Banjo Paterson's A Bush Christening. 

But the real highlight wasn't just the performances. 

“It was seeing people come together and giving residents an opportunity to express themselves, build confidence, and experience a genuine sense of pride and purpose,” Lifestyle Assistant Sally Davoren says. 

“The event strengthened connections across the Oak Towers community, created an uplifting atmosphere, and left residents, families, staff and volunteers with a shared sense of joy and belonging.” 

And the excitement continued well beyond the event, with many residents still talking about it days later. 

Every performer was recognised for their incredible effort and talent, receiving a certificate and trophy in appreciation of their participation and contribution to the memorable afternoon of entertainment 🏆✨
