Churches of Christ in Queensland is part of the ‘restoration movement’ which began around 1800 in the USA. Believers from various denominations began to come together with the goal of attempting to reproduce the essence of the church as presented in the New Testament.
While Churches of Christ in Queensland does not have a set creed or written statement of faith, several principles have been foundational to the movement since the beginnings.
We are Churches of Christ. Our identity and purpose as an organisation is founded on the person and work of Jesus Christ. Churches of Christ in Queensland is a church and community organisation that includes a group of affiliated, mainstream Christian churches and a range of care and community services and faith-related groups.
Our mission of ‘bringing the light of Christ into communities’ is founded on the teachings and values of Jesus Christ who calls on every one of us to be a light in the place we are in, through the expression of love.
We strongly believe that ‘everything rises or falls on leadership’, and we are committed to developing good, stable, secure and servant-hearted leaders within Churches of Christ in Queensland.
Our commitment to reconciliation has not faded and our determination remains strong. We have the foundations we need to stay focused over the next two years as we walk towards reconciliation along with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, communities, colleagues and friends.
Our core values are ‘Unconditional love’, 'Continual innovation', ‘Mutual trust’ and ‘Wise stewardship’.
