Congratulations to our Youth CONNECT Case Manager and Team Leader Taylor Alapaki for being recognised at the Create Foundation Voices in Action conference in April 2022.

Congratulations to our Youth CONNECT Case Manager and Team Leader Taylor Alapaki for being recognised with the National Caseworker Award from CREATE Foundation during their Voices in Action conference at the end of April 2022.

It is wonderful recognition of Taylor’s ongoing commitment to the vulnerable young people in our care. Taylor was nominated for being an incredible, positive force in his young people’s lives. As evidenced by one of his client’s comments:

“Taylor has supported and encouraged me enormously into starting studying something I am passionate in. I have had a lot of doubt during the time frame of my study, Taylor would always listen and try to understand and always encouraged me to keep going.

“Taylor would help with setting up study sessions and he wrote up a detailed study routine to help me finish assessments on time. Taylor is also counting down the days until I graduate, which I find humorous yet special because it’s been up and down my mindset on studying and to have Taylor so supportive and looking forward to seeing me graduate motivates me.”

Great job, Taylor!

The CREATE Foundation’s Voices in Action conference (www.voicesinaction.create.org.au) is a biennial event with interactive panels, workshops and inspirational speakers with the aim to amplify the voices of young people and put them at the forefront of change. Our Youth CONNECT team presented on a panel with our collaborative research partners at the University of the Sunshine Coast. The topic discussion was about their research into building the resilience for young people being the focus of our practice. You can read more about the research:
