Regional Gatherings: The Highlights Reel

Our churches
5 MIN READ
With one event still to go, our team has travelled across Queensland, connecting with our 67 affiliated churches and staff from our many services.

Beginning on 31 May in Cairns, our 2026 Reginal Gatherings have already brought hundreds of people together across Townsville, South Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay, Ipswich, Fassifern, Toowoomba, and Mackay. Bundaberg is next, as we continue across the state, creating opportunities for our people to hear, connect and engage with what God is doing across our movement.

At each location, participants gathered around tables, sharing meals and conversations, while hearing from Churches of Christ Board Chair Nigel King, CEO Bill Lyon, and Council Chair The Reverend Dr Tim Hanna. Through stories from the field, open Q&As, and honest dialogue, each gathering has created space not just for gathering information, but for connection.

The Regional Gatherings have been intentionally shaped to balance clear organisational updates with meaningful, relational moments, creating space for reflection, shared learning and encouragement.

Guided by the theme “Abounding in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8), these gatherings have reminded us of our shared purpose – to journey together as a movement, trusting God to grow what has been planted and to bring life, hope and transformation through our churches and communities.

Across every region, there has been a strong sense that we are part of something bigger.

The gatherings have strengthened alignment across Board, Council, executive, churches and services, while celebrating the impact of ministry already taking place across Queensland. More than anything, they have and reinforced a sense of unity, belonging and shared mission.

The photos we’ve shared capture just a glimpse of this journey – the conversations, the laughter, and the genuine joy of coming together as one community.
