Active in the areas of children, youth and family services; community housing; retirement living; home and community care; and residential aged care services, we provide Christ-inspired care and compassion to vulnerable people at different stages of their life journey.

Our other missional services include children’s, youth, women’s and second half ministry; chaplaincy support in community and residential aged care services; mission action partnerships; and global mission projects.

Children, youth and families

Churches of Christ Care - Children, Youth and Families (formerly Churches of Christ Care Pathways) has been operating for over 45 years. We provide a broad range of services focused on building stronger, more capable and resilient children, young people and families throughout Queensland. These services include early childhood education, family support, out of home care and transition to independence programs, with support provided based on identified needs and interests of individual communities.

Out of home care support services

Each year, our out of home care services support approximately 3,000 children and young people under child protection orders. These services include:

With an increasing focus on family support, prevention and early intervention services, a growing number of children and families are also assisted through our Assessment and Intervention, Family and Child Connect and Intensive Family Support Services. Our extensive range of support services ensures an effective approach tailored to the individual needs of children, young people and their families.

We proudly recruit and support over 900 dedicated and compassionate foster and kinship carers who work closely with Churches of Christ Care staff to provide safety, emotional support and practical assistance to children and young people who are unable to live at home for a variety of reasons including abuse and neglect.

Housing

Community and affordable housing

We are one of the largest not-for-profit community housing providers in Queensland, offering a range of rental housing options for individuals and families on low incomes, those who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, and those who are discriminated against in the private housing market. These options include crisis housing, transitional housing and long-term housing along with properties under the National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS). Support is also available to assist crisis housing tenants with income arrangements, budgeting and referral to specialist services.

We believe that safe, secure, appropriate and affordable housing is a basic human right and is fundamental to individual, family and community wellness. We want our tenants to live in inclusive, safe and viable urban or rural communities:

  • which offer a sustainable and good quality living environment
  • where households can access a good range of services to maintain and improve their quality of life
  • where residents have the opportunity to learn, work, engage and be involved in determining the future of their communities and to influence decisions that affect them.

Retirement living

Churches of Christ Care is one of the leading not-for-profit providers of retirement living, operating 23 retirement villages throughout Queensland (18) and Victoria (5). We offer a wide range of lifestyle options, all with individually tailored care and support packages available through Churches of Christ Care or coordinated by our management team.

Our 23 retirement villages promote an independent lifestyle where residents can age-in-place with freedom, independence, privacy, dignity and security, without the worry of garden and house maintenance.

They are well located, and provide safe, attractive, accessible and affordable accommodation and services for over 1,000 residents.

Most of our services are co-located with Churches of Christ Care residential aged care and community care services, which offer residents a continuum of care as their needs change.

Residents have access to a range of social and hospitality services including, in some locations, medical transport ensuring residents are able to visit specialists and attend hospitals when needed.

Three of our villages – at Bribie Island, Mitchelton and Townsville – are part of the organisation’s integrated communities program, where a ‘campus’ approach provides seamless care and service integration. Our philosophy is to engage with residents in a way that empowers them to influence and contribute to their communities. We test all decisions to ensure  there will be a positive outcome for residents,  and advocate on their behalf through our involvement in community, industry and special interest groups and forums.

Integrated communities

Churches of Christ in Queensland is one of the leading and most innovative developers of integrated communities in Queensland.

Churches of Christ campuses are uniquely planned based on individual and local community needs, with each individual campus designed to foster community spirit and cohesion. We offer holistic client-focused care and service in a location where the broader community can benefit from the additional services provided. These communities are located across Queensland and in Victoria are a mixture of care and support services, depending on the local communities’ needs. One campus may consist of retirement living and aged care services while another may include children, youth and families support and community housing apartments.

Integrated communities allow residents to access services and social supports available on the campus, regardless of a funding source, and an environment where residents and clients feel safe, respected and valued.
