Networking Issue 6 – 2016

The latest edition of Networking is now available.

From 1 March to 9 April 2017, in the lead up to Easter, Churches of Christ in Queensland will be engaging in 40-days of Prayer. An extension of the Month of Prayer we have previously marked in March, this will be a time of focused prayer not just on what we do, but for the rest of Australia and other nations as we reflect on the Easter message that Jesus gave his life for us. Please mark this period in your calendar, and find more information on page 14.

In November, Celebrate 2016 brought together members of our churches, staff and volunteers for our Centrifuge event and Annual General Meeting Dinner. It was great to see so many of your there. You can read a recap of the events in this edition, including a full list of the 2016 CEO Excellence in Service Award winners. The Chief Executive Officer has visited many of our regional areas to present CEO Excellence in Service Awards to local winners. We will be included more about these local events in the next edition of Networking.

In his update, Chief Executive Officer Dean Phelan also provides a summary of Celebrate 2016, as well as a look forward to 2017 and the 100th anniversary at Boondall Church of Christ.

There are many other great stories from across our churches, care and missional services to round out Networking 2016, including an update from Churches of Christ Medical Santo, young people overcoming adversity to achieve wonderful things, a new environmentally friendly initiative being undertaken by the organisation, and how we are helping young people to gain confidence to find employment. You can also read about Phyllis Lee’s 109th birthday at Churches of Christ Care Carramar Hostel and read an excerpt from the second edition of our history book, The Church from the Paddock.
