Helping you stay at home longer

A client phoned Churches of Christ Home and Community Care hotline very distressed that their hot water system had burst and they didn’t know what to do.

They don’t have family close by, but they do have a great relationship with their Home Assist Support Field Officer. He was able to arrange for a plumber and electrician to repair the hot water system in record time.  The client only had to pay for the cost of the new element as the labour is included in their home care package.

In a similar story a Home and Community Care Field Officer arranged and installed hand rails for an elderly lady who was taken to hospital after a fall in her bathroom.

On assessment the occupational therapist advised hand rails were a necessity before she could return home.  The lady is now happily home, living independently, and very pleased as her only out of pocket expense was the cost of the hand rail.

The hand rails also offer greater peace of mind for her family as falls are one of the most common type of injury sustained by the elderly and most occur within the home.
