The application process
Below you will find other useful information to assist you in making the decision about becoming an educator.
1. Complete the online enquiry form
If you have not already enquired with your local family day care coordination unit complete the enquiry form.
2. Informal information visit or conversation
Following lodgement of your online enquiry form, a family day care coordinator will be in touch to answer your initial questions, arrange an interview and provide an information pack that contains:
Educator application form
Educator role statement
Providing family day care information sheet
Other people living at the home questionnaire
Home assessment form
3. Application and interview
Complete your application form and either bring to your interview or email to email@example.com.
4. Talk with your family
Following the interview it is important to talk with your family and consider whether being an at-home educator will suit your family’s circumstances.
5. Blue card applications
Apply for a blue card for all adults who live in the home or visit regularly. If blue cards are held then an authorisation to confirm valid blue card must be completed.
6. Referee checks
We will contact your personal referees (not family or friends).
7. Home assessment
A coordinator will visit your home to complete an inspection and meet your family/occupants.
You will be invited to complete training, this takes between eight (8) to ten (10) weeks.
9. Other checks
By this stage of your application we will likely have fulfilled all checks and inspections however if we have not already we will complete a home assessment which includes a pool and electrical safety check.
