Help Community Chaplains help those in need

Social isolation can occur in many different forms, often in the least likely of places. When our community chaplain Michael first met Jane she was in the early stages of her fight against cancer. Determined to remain in her own home and with no family nearby to support her, Jane was struggling to look after herself. She needed help.

Michael reached out to one of Jane’s neighbours and arranged for them to drop by from time to time and help out with the little things – like taking out the rubbish or doing a load of washing. Michael came to Jane’s rescue again some months later when he found out she had run out of money before pension day and had gone several days without food.

Thanks to the support of people who donated funds to the Chaplaincy program, Michael was able to organise the delivery of regular food parcels for Jane and enable her to stay in her own home see out the final stages of her life with dignity, company and support.

Our Community Chaplain program is a key priority for Churches of Christ in Queensland, but is unfunded.

We are currently running a Community Chaplain Appeal, which aims to raise much needed funds to ensure our chaplains can continue this crucial service. You can support this appeal by spreading the word, fundraising or donating.

The following are some examples on how you can easily make a difference to the success of this appeal:
