    Personal requirements of a family day care educator

    •    A true passion for working with children
    •    A positive role model
    •    Able to communicate  with children and their family
    •    Can work independently  and as part of a team
    •    Good physical health
    •    Must be 18 years of age or older

    Other requirements include:

    •    Have or be working towards an approved qualification, such as a Certificate III in Early Childhood
    •    A valid positive suitability notice such as a Blue Card, issued by Blue Card Services, (also required by  any adult occupants of the home and any regular adult visitors to the home)
    •    A suitable home in which to provide care
    •    Completion of relevant education and training courses.

    Education and training for family day care educators

    Under the National Law, family day care educators must hold or be working towards an approved qualification, such as a Certificate III in Early Childhood.

    Before you commence as an educator, you will be required to complete training that may take approximately 8-10 weeks.
