Boonah

Boonah Campus

We are investing in the future of our existing Fassifern Aged Care Service and Retirement Village to secure Boonah and the Scenic Rim as a location of choice for seniors care.

The new facility will eventually replace the existing Fassifern Aged Care Service. The current 40 bed nursing home has a number of limitations restricting its ability to accommodate growing needs.

The lake will be included in the early works, partly to manage stormwater issues to allow the residential aged care facility to be built. An existing dam will be filled to enable the development.

Our integrated community model brings together the care, church community and support services to work collaboratively for the uplift of on-campus residents and the broader community.

Cottage model of care

We have adopted a ‘cottage’ model of care across all of our new residential aged care developments and will apply the same approach at the Fassifern service.

The model has been very successful in creating a warm, home-like atmosphere with separate areas, while providing as much care and support as needed by residents.

Each cottage will have 16 private rooms, each with ensuite, and a variety of lounge, living and dining areas and access to outside spaces. Residents and their family members will be able to select their own breakfast options and prepare tea and coffee during the day.

The main lounge, living room and dining space in each cottage will provide a number of smaller spaces for people to relax with family and friends, along with a quiet reading area.

Staffing

Existing staff will be given the option to move to the new facility and additional staff will be needed given the size of the new accommodation. We will be creating opportunities for qualified health professionals, registered nurses, personal care workers and hospitality staff.

Anyone interested in employment opportunities is welcome to visit our website Imagineyourcareers.com.au and as we get closer to construction completion, we will publish an expressions of interest ad for new staff.

Next Steps

The next phase of this development is design and further planning. Updates will be posted as they are available, including a construction date. Expressions of interest for local tradesmen and subcontractors will be sought by  our building contractor once appointed.

Once the new building is completed and residents and staff are relocated, the old nursing home will be demolished and the area landscaped until a decision is made for the best use of the land.

Further development on the site will be linked to demand in the region and this will continue to be assessed.
